If climbing up a cliff isn’t for you... perhaps rappelling down a cliff is! Rappelling is a fun and exhilarating wilderness adventure, tame enough for families new to the outdoors, and exciting enough to never be forgotten.
An intro rappelling day can be customized for anyone, from those with no experience to those seeking larger thrills or even those preparing for canyoneering objectives. During our rappel clinic, we will teach you how to set yourself up on rappel, proper body positioning, and proper rappelling techniques. You will get to rappel 40 - 120 foot cliffs, high above the Linville Gorge. If you’re feeling a little nervous, don’t be, our professional guides will coach you through the toughest moments with easy to follow instruction as well as a controlled safety line, ensuring a slow and smooth descent.
For more advanced rappellers, we also offer specific programs for climbing-oriented rappelling education, from setting up rappelling anchors to rescuing yourself when you rope is to short or damaged.
