No time for a two-day sport climbing course? This is an abbreviated single day version of our Sport Climbing 101 course, that will set you up to practice skills on your own.

The Express course will teach you everything you need to know to start safely sport climbing outside in just one day. We will start by covering fast and efficient sport anchors, then move into lead belay techniques, rope management, clipping techniques and proper risk management.

Don’t have your own gear yet? No worries! We will provide you with all the gear needed for climbing that day.

Who is this for? This class is for motivated climbers with 6 months climbing experience, and who are capable of quickly understanding climbing systems.


     1-2 people = $150 per person

     3 people = $135 per person

     4 or more = $115 per person

Trip Length: This is a one-day course, ~8 hours. Participants are expected to make proper meal arrangements prior to the event.

2018 Dates: September 15th, October 20th, November 17th and December 15th.Want more dates? With two or more students we can provide custom dates.  

Location: Crowders Mountain (September - October), Rocky Face Recreational Area (November and December). Want more locations? With two or more students we can provide teach at a location of your choice.

Thrifty Adventures has reached a milestone! We are growing rapidly!  We thank you for your continued support! In case you missed it, Thrifty is moving their center of operations to Hidden Holler Farm in Red Hill, Bakersville WNC. The farm is 7.5 acres, circa 1890’s and is rich with history! It is located a short walk from the North Toe River!

What to expect 4-1-2019! The new TA office and Tiny Hike Shop will be located in one of the many tobaccos drying barns. The hike shop will include items like water, snacks, sunscreen, river shoes, rain gear and other items typically needed for folks on our trips!
