Non-guided up to class II rapids

Ready to spend a relaxing but adrenaline filled day on the river with family and friends? Hop into one of our heavy-duty tubes or kayaks, and float on! Life jackets, helmets and paddles provided and required for this trip. Head down the North Toe River towards a solid mile of class II whitewater and end at the Red Hill swimming hole. Trips go out when water levels are just right. It may just be the ride of your life. Trip is non guided. A guide can be reserved upon request by calling (828) 260-4505.

Trip times vary base on water levels expect at least an hour on the river plus time to swim at the swimming hole. Allow a minimum of 2 hours for this trip. 

Ages: 13 and up. All participants must be able to swim proficiently!!!!!

When: Once Daily May-October

Cost: 
$45 for Tubes
$55 for Kayaks

Where: North Toe River near Bakersville

Please bring: swimsuit, sunscreen, towels, waterproof camera, water shoes, sunglasses with a retention strap, extra contacts if you wear them, and any medicines you might need, and water. If you do not have any of these items you can purchase them at our store.

Please note shoes are required for our river trips. We do have river shoes at our office for purchase. Flip flops or crocks are not adequate and will float away as will any glasses without retention straps.

Thrifty Adventures has reached a milestone! We are growing rapidly!  We thank you for your continued support! In case you missed it, Thrifty is moving their center of operations to Hidden Holler Farm in Red Hill, Bakersville WNC. The farm is 7.5 acres, circa 1890’s and is rich with history! It is located a short walk from the North Toe River!

What to expect 4-1-2019! The new TA office and Tiny Hike Shop will be located in one of the many tobaccos drying barns. The hike shop will include items like water, snacks, sunscreen, river shoes, rain gear and other items typically needed for folks on our trips!
