This event is for those of you thinking about doing mountaineering trips. This event will cover the basics of mountaineering. We will learn & practice ice axe arrest, crevasse rescue, self-rescue, rest stepping, pressure breathing, roped glacier travel and knots. This takes place twice a year at the Skyline Village Inn and Tavern on the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Self-rescue classes will be held a few times a year at various locations. These courses teach clients about different rescue scenarios, how to avoid them, and what to do if you find yourself in an emergency situation. During this class you will go over pully systems, rope management, and each client will be able to play "victim" and "rescuer".
